THINGS ARE A'CHANGIN!

"Change is Good", they say.    Since I closed "the Creek" January 2010, my life has wiggled through many changes.  I became a Pfrimmer Therapeutic Massage Therapist (see my other blog if you like); I became single again and am now using the name my mom and pap gave me (Vicki Jo Marsh - actually my true first name is Victori [not Victoria] but I digress) ...found a great little house on a wooded lot where I now live/love; saw my youngest off to college, and much more.  For me, change seldom comes without a case of the blues because I'm such a passionate sucker.  But you know what they say about one door closing.... in my case, a bunch of doors!  But many have opened and I'm once again very happy and living in the moment!

While my current job as a therapist is very fulfilling due to the results many of my clients receive, my passion for vintage decorating has never changed.  While I honestly thought I'd never return to the antiques scene, I've recently come face-to-face with my addiction once again.

Cows in the Creek offered early primitives and the special trimmings that went along with them.  While I still love to mix with the primitives, I've given in to my love of the faded and charming.  I absolutely love the chippy, white, creamy, tan, worn look.  My new home, a quaint, old farmhouse with lots of personality and possibility, is much smaller than I need for my addiction of collecting things I love.  Every room offers warm color despite my love of  neutrals, and the look is very eclectic, from old leather suitcases, vintage alarm clocks, worn porch posts, rusty tin and loads of ironstone.  But I love it!

While "the Creek" will always be my baby, I have turned the page to a new chapter.  Urban Barn (by Vicki) will be my new venture.  I hope you will be open minded enough to give it a look-see because if you're a die-hard Creek lover, I promise there will be a "Creek piece" or two mixed in with the Urban Barn collection.  I'm hoping to be in a booth soon and will let you know as soon as that happens!

While I am not planning on hosting any shows in the near future, I am doing a few shows here and there.  In fact I will be at the Vintage Market this Saturday in the Glendale Mall parking lot.  Jon Jenkins (son to the Springfield, Ohio Extravaganza family) has offered this venue since spring of this year.  This weekend promises to be the biggest show yet.  I hope you'll come over to see me!  Who knows, I may have something you love!

As soon as I get time I will move this blog to a new page for the Urban Barn.  But know that even though the business name is changing... I am still a hopeless junkie and will continue to find the unique treasures I've always tried to bring you.

Your friend and Head Heifer,

Vicki

Spring Show at Hattie Belle's

Wow!  What a day.  Thanks to those who came out and were a part of it!  It was so nice to see you again!  I will attempt to post pictures from the Sale but please know there are so many more pictures I could have gotten and didn't.  We had a professional photographer there and hopefully I will get to share her pictures soon.   Please contact me if you want to see them!  Just the amish buggies, line up in a row, was a great scene.

NO UMBRELLAS!

Well Folks!  This is it!  People setting up all day today.  Weather looks fabulous, especially tomorrow so there's not much excuse if you're not there!  I know everyone says, "You won't want to miss this one!"  But honestly... you don't want to miss this one.  I'm so happy about the vendors/dealers setting up - variety all around.  Relaxed, laid back and affordable!  That's what I wanted this Sale to be about.      See you tomorrow!

THE COUNTDOWN...

Believe it or not, it's coming together!  There is actually light at the end of the tunnel.  Just four more days and Marty and I will REALLY be looking for the wine!  Marty had no idea what she was getting into when she agreed to hold the Sale at their home.  But I think she's starting to get excited again at seeing the finished product coming together.   We promised each other that 'NO MATTER WHAT' - we'd still be friends when it's all over.  hahaha!
I can't tell you how happy I am about the variety of friends we'll have with us, selling their temptations on Saturday.  As some of you know, my taste is very eclectic and that's just what we'll have on tap.  Kinda like a "mini-Country Living Show"!!!
"Pursue the Imperfect"....  Those days of finding a perfect blue pie safe for $500 are long gone.  The "new generation" likes the relaxed, cozy comfort of worn, not pristine. So what some may refer to as "junk" is really the new "IN" style.  Go to Barnes & Noble and you will see what I'm talking about!  There are few magazines devoted to high end collectibles nowadays, but lots of ink about flea market finds, repurposed junk
and hand-me-downs are on the rag racks.
I thought about posting WORK IN PROGRESS/TEASER pics but eh, it would just spoil the fun.  I might post them AFTER the Sale so as not to scare you away at this point.  :)
The weather looks very promising.  Thanks for your positive thoughts for good weather!
For now though I'm waiting for the rain to stop so I can get back out and work on "another pile"!
We have room for a few more dealers if you'd like to join us.  317-694-3432

Space is $60 - lots of room to spread out.  Let me know and I'll send you a packet including an aerial map of Hattie Belle's.

Just a few updates for the Sale!  We've added a few more vendors this week.  The merchandise at the Sale will be a tasteful, unique & tempting mix!  So whether your latest design swag is primitive, urban farmhouse, traditional, cottage, vintage, retro, eclectic... we will have something for you!
Amish Kids 1.jpg
You definitely want to be there early.  Our Amish neighbors are planning on bringing their breakfast grub, so don't worry about getting a Mcmuffin on the way over.  And for lunch we'll be serving BBQ!  So you can hang around as long as you want.

The admission at the gate is $3.  Sorry, no early sales.  I want everyone to have a fair chance at buying.  I've been to shows before where there are SOLD stickers everywhere - traces of someone coming the night before and cherry picking.  So I apologize up front to those whose feeling I may hurt.

Again, feel free to call or email me with any questions.  If you need a hotel, the Wayne County Tourism Bureau has attained special rates for you.

More later!....
